My World in Homeschooling

I've come to a very difficult decision. Technically, my absence made up my mind for me and it makes me terribly sad, but I can't keep up with the blogging community right now or in the foreseeable future. This homeschooling thing is taking up a lot of time. I know that several of you out there homeschool and keep up with writing and blogs and I just marvel at how you do it. I have no time to plan ahead because I'm planning science, math, language arts, music, phonics and art lessons... Not to mention keeping my two year old occupied. (Truth be told, I'm failing at that too. Haha!) Add to that a rigorous church calling, family time, writing time a little time to practice music, cook, clean. do laundry, check and write blogs (etc) and it equals me breaking down.

Anyway, the decision that I'm still hesitating to even type out is that I won't be keeping up with this blog or any of yours. I really want to, but I just can't. If we're friends on facebook, I'll still be keeping an eye out for your awesome accomplishments and I'll still be writing my own novel. I just don't have the time to come up with not-so-clever blog posts. And reading all of yours? It's just not happening. There are hundreds of blogs I love. I'm so sorry! I wish you all the best and maybe in a couple of years when I'm NOT homeschooling, I can jump back on the wagon. Wow... That seems like eons from now.

I'm not going to lie. This post has been HARD to write. I've loved my on-line journey with the writing community and I've learned so much! Thank you all for being so supportive and amazing.

Time to go do a little science experimenting in the which I mess with the space-time continuum...

It's hard. Really hard sometimes. But you've got your priorities in line, and that's what's important. :) Good luck with school! :D

  2. PS: It does get easier, but the first little while can often be overwhelming.

My kids are grown now:) I admire your determination to stick with it and set priorities. Will miss you, but glad for you that you are doing a wonderful thing! Hang in there.

You'll be missed, but you have nothing to feel guilty over.

  14. I'm sorry to hear about your decision, since I enjoyed your writing, but I understand it. A few years ago, I had to simplify my own life a bit, but it's an ongoing struggle.

  15. I totally understand your decision! And you know where I am if you EVER NEED ME!!!

  16. I understand completely. If my kids were younger, there'd be no way that I could homeschool and do blogging. Mine do most of their stuff on their own with gentle nudges from me or I drive them to a class and sit waiting in the car while I read or write.

Best of luck. Pop back around from time to time and give us updates.

  17. Dude, there are some things that can be sacrificed and some that can't. No one can fault you for that. Good luck with everything! *hugs*

  18. Believe me, we all understand. I think all of us at some point have questioned whether we have the time or energy to keep up with blogging. Are you still going to be part of our critique group?

  19. ((hugs)) Nisa. I'm with Danyelle, it DOES get easier. The first year I schooled-at-home, I was in the same boat as you. I just couldn't keep up. And while the second year was better, I still got easily overwhelmed. Well, it's only been a month or so since we started our third year, but already I can tell we're hitting our stride a lot more easily. I feel like I can finally breathe again and can manage all the different parts of my life, not easily, but definitely better.

You are giving such a gift to your children! Yay for you!

  20. I have been meaning to come and chat with you about this. I am homeschooling. On my last kid. She's in the seventh. Algebra and all that junk. So my posting will become less. I COMPLETELY understand Nisa. And we'll see ya on FB. )which I am thinking of leaving. The virus and all.) I love ya girl. The kids education is NUMERO UNO. If you ever need me, just let me know. But keep writing. :)

  22. *Hugs*, we'll miss you. As a homeschooled child myself and a mother planning on doing the same for her kids, I know how time consuming it really is. Good luck!!
